In coop with Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation: “We’re Getting Empowered to Advance Children’s and Women’s Rights!” Project
We’re Getting Empowered to Advance Children’s and Women’s Rights!
Within the scope of this project, which we initiated with the aim of defending and strengthening the social, cultural and environmental rights of children and women, we combine social solidarity with children’s rights, women’s rights, gender equality and culture and arts.
The Purpose of Our Project
In the first stage, our project aims to identify the violations of children’s rights that occurred after the earthquakes centered on February 6 and to develop solutions for these violations in cooperation with local dynamics. In the following, in addition to art therapy workshops on the axis of experience transfer with local and international experts, gender equality, sexual health and reproductive health workshops will be organized with girls and women. In the last stage of our project, we aim to support the cognitive, emotional and mental processes of children and young people between the ages of 7-18 by organizing culture-art and creativity workshops and to organize a festival with the products that emerge as a result of these workshops.
What Are We Doing ?
Documenting&Advocating on Rights Violations:
In order to address children’s rights violations, we record rights violations in a total of 5 provinces in Adıyaman, Antep, Hatay, Malatya and Maraş, analyze them using scientific methods and develop policy recommendations. We draw attention to these rights violations with local and international collaborations and offer solution recommendations.
Children’s Rights Workshop:
In light of the data and findings to be obtained from the field research to be conducted on children’s rights violations, we will organize a workshop in Diyarbakır under the leadership of competent experts in this field, with the participation of local NGOs, authorities from relevant municipal units and our project partners. As a result of this workshop, we will create a “Children’s Rights Policy Document” and share it with the public opinion.
Art Therapy Workshops:
We will conduct experience transfer and art therapy workshops with local experts through our project partner TACC. With the outputs of these workshops, local experts will organize culture and art workshops with a broader perspective, taking into account the “well-being” of children and young people.
Gender Equality and Sexual and Reproductive Health Workshops:
A series of workshops will be organised for girls and women under the main headings of gender equality, gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health. With these workshops, we aim to strengthen and support the knowledge, attitudes and awareness of girls and women in this field.
Culture-Art and Creativity Workshops:
With the culture-art and creativity workshops such as music, theater, painting, photography and technology that we will organize in Diyarbakır, we aim to develop children’s artistic skills and support them in exercising their cultural rights.
Children and Youth Festival:
Children and youth who will bring the experiences they gain in the workshops to the stage will exhibit their productions in different branches of culture and art at the Children and Youth Festival to be organized. Our festival will be built under the leadership of children and youth with a philosophy that supports and strengthens cultural diversity on the axis of multiculturalism.
We Are Stronger Together!
We need your support on this path we have embarked on to make the voices of children, youth and women heard through rights-based activities and to strengthen social solidarity. We believe that together we can build a more just and equal future for children!
