Kurdish Voices From the World
We, as the Children First Association, are excited to announce that we have started the “Kurdish Voices From the World” project with the contributions of the Swiss Embassy.
We are converting 10 books from World Children’s Classics into audiobooks. We will also visualize the audiobooks and publish&broadcast them on digital platforms and Zarok TV, the first and the only Kurdish Kids’ Satellite Channel in the World.
The works that Aram Publishing brought to Kurdish literature, which we will turn into audio books are as follows:
Tom Sawyer, Pollyanna, Robin Hood, The Count of Monte Cristo, Gulliver’s Travels, Pinocchio, Oliver Twist, Little Violinist, Little Black Fish, Around the World in Eighty Days.
Dubbing of the mentioned titles above will be performed by sound artists speaking in Kurmancî dialect, in sound studios. After the completion, we will add visual descriptions to each work and make our Audiobooks ready for sharing in both audio and visual media.
After receiving the support of the Swiss Embassy for the Kurdish Voices From the World project, we rapidly started to work, we therefore plan to finish the audio recordings till next month. And three months later they will be ready and open to everyone on all digital platforms and airing on TV through Zarok TV channel.
What do we actually aim for with the “Kurdish Voices From the World” project?
– Supporting children’s access to written works such as World Classics, in their own native language.
– Supporting children’s use and development of their mother tongue with audio books that will be spoken in their mother tongue.
– Developing tools for the children whose mother tongue is Kurdish so that they can easily access their mother tongue.
– Delivering the prepared audiobook works to children widely through digital platforms.
– To ensure a widespread-access to Kurdish language tools for disadvantaged children who face various constraints in education, social and cultural life.
Our biggest goal is to complete this journey that we started with 10 books into 100 books.
Many thanks to everyone who made Kurdish Voices from the World come to life, especially the Swiss Embassy and Aram Publishing!
